I have been using an electric pressure cooker for a number of years now and feel quite comfortable doing so. With Instant Pot now selling about one-quarter of a million pressure cookers a year and 214,000 of them for Amazon Prime Day, I am sure that many of you might need some extra help stepping into the world of pressure cooking. I can help you do that. Please read this post and take a look at other blog posts and recipes for how to really get started with your new Instant Pot (or other electric pressure cooker).
If you missed the Amazon Prime Day special, I offer a $50 discount from the Instant Pot website if you enter the code vegqueen at checkout from their website (not from Amazon).
I’m including a few of my youtube videos to get you started with your new Instant Pot:

New to the Instant Pot – Read This
Hello Jill, someone gave me an electric pressure cooker, specifically an Intertek Power Pressure Cooker XL. I have been reading your cookbooks and note that you recommend that electric cookers have a saute setting. This one doesn’t –they are Delay Timer, Canning / Preserving, Soup / Stew, Slow Cook, Rice / Risotto, Beans / Lentils, Fish / Veg. / Steam, Meat / Chicken, Time Adjustment and Cancel / Keep Warm. Any suggestions on which feature(s) might be used to saute food?
It is hard to saute in the pot without the saute setting as the other settings are pressure settings. Also, you ought to know that as far as I know there aren’t any electric cookers that the USDA has declared safe for canning.
I wish that I had better news on how to saute in your pot.
