I recently was sent some packages of the Hemp Heart Toppers to try. I love this product since it takes something that I already use, and find nutritionally beneficial, Hemp Hearts, and takes them up a flavor notch to make them even better and easier to use. Â The savory flavored toppers are a wonderful addition to salads, soups and many of the plain grain and bean dishes that I make often. The sweet ones are perfect for oatmeal or my homemade soy yogurt.
The toppers come in the following flavors: Maple & Cinnamon; Coconut & Cocoa; Onion, Garlic & Rosemary; and Chipotle, Onion & Garlic.
Why include hemp? It is a wonderful source of Omega 3 fatty acids in what I would consider a more palatable form than flax. Flax must be ground to absorb it well and ground flax is wonderful as a binder and less tasty as a topper on food. Hemp tastes good and is good for you in moderate amounts (1 to 2 tablespoons per day).

Hemp is an amazing superfood, and the plant has so many other uses. Maybe we can all try it in our diets and then spread the word on how great it is in other applications including textiles, paper, fuels, etc. Truly a wonderous plant!
