I was contacted a while back by a company that makes salad spinners, among other plastic items. While I am not a huge fan of plastic, I think that it has its place in durable kitchen equipment like a salad spinner. This salad spinner has a Turbo fan which was of interest to me because it’s supposed to dry off your salad quickly and well, so said, “Yes, please, you can send me one.”
The Dexas Salad Spinner is now in use in my kitchen daily because I eat salad every day and, of course, I encourage you to do the same. I will be choosing one very lucky person on December 11th who will have a salad spinner shipped directly them (in the United States only, please). You can enter by leaving your comment below about why you would like this salad spinner. (Keeping it is fine, as is gifting it to get others to eat more salad.)
Let me tell you why I like this salad spinner, even though it’s quite different from my former spinner which I still like. But how many salad spinners does one person need? The answer is “just one great one” which the Dexas spinner is. It has an open bottom that you use over a sink, or on a towel, to let all the water drip out of it which gives you a much drier product than other spinners.
It also has a little stopper in the top to let liquid out. Additionally, you can remove the entire top fan assembly which allows you to clean underneath the top. This feature alone makes elevates its salad spinner status, as my last one did not allow me to thoroughly clean under the top lest I break the spinning part.
The spinner is also large enough for me to use as it holds 5 quarts of greens which is close to what I use when I make the kale salad recipe below.
This spinner is currently being sold at Sur La Table for $29.99 but it’s your lucky day. If you want to get 15% off the salad spinner, enter the code VEGGIEQUEEN at checkout and it will be calculated. This offer is good until December 31, 2012.
To see the salad spinnner-dryer on the web click here. While you are there, check out the other products that they offer, including the incredibly cute fruit and vegetable boards.
Here is what Dexas has to say about the spinner:

The Veggie Queen’s Raw Kale Salad
Serves 2-4
This is easy to make and you’ll get a great dose of greens. Use your favorites types, put in extra ingredients such as pumpkin or sunflower seeds, nuts or dried fruit, to suit your taste. The only limit to what goes into this salad is your imagination. When you massage the greens, be sure to add the love.
1 to 2 tablespoons raw tahini
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1-2 teaspoons miso (my favorite is South River Miso – brown rice or or mellow white works well) or Bragg’s liquid amino acids
1 teaspoon agave, or more to taste
1 apple, sliced thin, julienned or grate.
Note: you can also add sunflower seeds or dried fruit to this salad, or go more savory by adding crushed garlic and sliced onion and omitting the apple.
Notice how the greens shrink by about half when they are massaged with the tahini, miso and lemon juice. If you are eating this by yourself, make half a batch at once or make the whole thing and save half for the next day.

I would love to try the Salad Spinner by Dexas. I have been looking for a good salad spinner, even asked for one for christmas. Right now i wash and dry the lettuce, spinach, etc. on paper towels. Having a salad spinner would make that process way easier!
My favorite salad is a almond -mandarine salad with a yummy vinaigrette!
