Lani Muelrath Fit Quickie Book Giveaway until January 25th
I have met Lani Muelrath a couple of times at the McDougall program here in Santa Rosa where I live. She helps out at the Advanced Study weekends and I often drop in to check out what is going on.
When I heard that Lani had a book coming out, and that she also loves her pressure cooker, it was time to spend a little time with her. We met virtually and I am sure that we are now good plant-based friends and colleagues.
I had a chance to look at Lani’s Plant-Based Blueprint on her website and I think that you will find it interesting. It gives you insight into what Lani eats and has 16 recipes. It’s an amazing bonus. You can get to it here.

Now that I have had a chance to take a more in-depth look at this book, I can tell you that it’s packed full of gems related to exercise, how you think and what you eat. If there were just one book to get for motivation to start the year off right, I would get this one. It is being released very soon.
So, if you want to win the book, you need to leave a comment about why you would like to get more fit, following Lani’s sage advice. I will do anything that takes just 5 minutes and makes me look and feel better. What about you? I can’t wait to hear from you.
I am choosing the winner on January 25th at 9 pm PST. Good luck.

I do a lot of cardio. I need same fine tuning it sounds like Lani’s book will do just that for me.
On a side note my Mom bought me a pressure cooker I only need to pick it up. She lives in Florida I live in Washington
Birgit,
Cardio – good! What’s your favorite mode? And yes you’re right, you DO need a little muscle challenge in there as well. Mom bought you a pressure cooker? Cool! When are you getting to Florida to do the pickup?
Thanks for entering and good luck!
Lani
Been eating exclusively plant based for the past 2 1/2 years. The missing piece of the puzzle for me is a good fitness regimen that complements a plant based lifestyle:)
I have tried every diet known! I am making a Life change now to eat all veggies!!! It’s the only thing left to do except just not eat! This book would b GREAT n beneficial for this change
Judy,
Congratulations on the pb switch! This is huge and I’m so please for you.
As Jack Lalanne said, together the king and queen of diet and exercise are unbeatable. Thanks for your entry!
Lani
Stephanie,
I’m so excited for you!
If I do say so myself, this book will give you so much practical information for getting you started – I guarantee it! I insisted – when the publisher asked me to do the Fit Quickies book – that the food and the frame of mind be included, so you’d have a complete specific plan.
Do you know you can download the first chapter for free at my webiste? At the end of every blog post there’s a form.
Cheers to you!
Lani
I need to change the way I eat and excercise more, to be healthier. I recently started to take lipitor because my cholesterol is to high and my fasting blood sugar is almost diabetic. Only a drastic change in my lifestyle will help me with that. I’m starting to cut out all processed food and become more vegan. I think the book can help me to get started on exercising right.
I have been PB now for 3 months, and am trying to go to the gym or do some type of exercise everyday. I think this book could help me keep moving everyday even if it’s for short periods of time and not having to find 50 minutes all at one time. I would love to get a copy of the Fit Quickies book!
I have been plant based for 4 months and I already like exercising in group classes. What I am missing is simple toning and strength building exercises. Looks like a great book!
i have been a vegetarian for more than 20 yrs but find that i fall into “ruts” in terms of my cooking and how i use veggies so i’m always open to learning and exploring different possibilities. also as i have gotten older i have found that i’m loosing strength especially in my upper body and would like to learn how to regain some of that.
I started eating plant based about 20 months ago and easily lost 15 lbs the first few months. Much to my disappointment, I find the weight has crept back on. Not eating animal food, but processed and sugar are my downfall, and unfortunately my husband and teens have too much of it around, as they have not been willing to sign on to the program. I know that exercise is an important missing component here… but I just hate to exercise! 5 minutes sounds doable, however, so I am eager to give it a try. Thanks!
I’ve been eating no-oil plant based for more than 2 years and have been able to achieve and maintain my ideal weight. So excess wight is not my issue. However I’ve always had a hard time getting motivated to exercise. I know that exercise will be increasingly important as I age (I’m 62). Sounds to me like Lani’s book might provide the motivation I need to incorporate exercise into my daily routine. I’d love to win a copy of her book! Thanks!
After transitioning to a plant-based diet last January, I feel like I have the food/nutrition aspect down, and now I need to focus on the exercise, something that has always given me problems, in order to achieve my goals of being a fit and healthy person.
Love your blog and website. Love Lani and all of her great ideas
I would love a copy of Lani Muelrath’s new book. I am actively working on getting fit and slim for the new year. Her book looks like it will help me achieve this goal sooner and with better direction. I hope I am the lucky winner.
I would like to get fit so I can be strong and flexible. I already eat a healthy diet and feel that I now need to focus on building strength.
Oh my! Hi everyone! I’ve been traveling all day and just have a chance now to check in while in airport transition. I’m so happy to see all these great entries! Getting the importance of being active and strong and well-shaped is such an important part of quality of life, productivity, and just plain joy of living – so encouraging to see the desire to get and stay fit.
It’s fun to meet you and learn more about you. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Lani
I would love to get fit. I feel out of shape and nothing seems to work for me.
I’ve been plant based for close to 2 years now and have always incorporated exercise via videos at home. Now that I’ve recently moved, my new job requires a lot of travel time and I’m having a hard time fitting exercise into my new busy schedule. I think Lani’s Fit Quickies would be the perfect solution. I follow Lani on Dr. McDougall’s Board, her website, Facebook, and LOVE her inspirational comments for the new people switching to this way of eating on the 21 day Kickstart at PCRM. If I don’t win this book, I know I will eventually be buying it when I’m in a better position. (Moving costs alot!)
P.S. I recently received an Instant Pot so I can’t wait to try some of Jill’s recipes!
After a year of suffering for plantar fasciitis, which made exercising too painful, I am finally healing and looking forward to getting back in shape. In a charity auction won the services of a trainer for three home sessions and a yoga instructor for three home sessions. Have been a Nutritarian for more than three years.
Michelle,
You won 6 personal training sessions? That is fabulous!
So sorry to hear about the pf and I know that is painful and prohibitive. You’ll be glad to know that many of the Fit Quickies can be done on knees or sitting – they are very versatile – so you’ll be able to challenge muscles while recoverring at the same time!
Lani
Hi Jodie!
How great to see you here and 5 Minute Fit Quickies fitness is a blessing for the busy. Remember, I put these together for quick access during busy travel – heck, many of them I can do in airports – and do! Just last week I was doing #9 – Higher Assets – and #10 – Legs into Play – in Houston and Cancun. And #1 anywhere, anytime – even while walking on the beach.
5 minute fitness does more that we suspect – restores willpower, equilibrium, and relieves stress….don’t get me started!
Lani
I am quite busy, and can’t always get to the gym. Being able to fit in quick, short exercises throughout the day would most certainly add up to a stronger, slimmer me, and having them written on a book so I can study them and have it there while I practice would be great. I’ve been doing plant-based eating on and off for a long time, I really need to get back on, I can feel it so much in my body when my food selections are not healthy. 2012 was beyond a horrid year, I gained a lot weight through stress eating, but I am now back on the horse ready to recover, so that I can feel and look better and be a good example to my family. I’m so tired of feeling defeated – time to move on!! I’m also following Lani’s post about pressure cooking, and working to start incorporate pressure cooking into my schedule so I can have healthy foods ready quickly.
Angela,
I want to encourage you in your quest. It can be just a matter of adding one or two things that add up to big result. Pick a time during the day when you have something you always do: heat the water for morning hot drink, brush your teeth, arrive home from work – and slip in one short exercise right there. You could start with Fit Quickie #1, 7 Seconds to a Flat Belly, or another instant invigorator favorite, Legs Into Play, #10. This restores equilibirum (there are many reasons why, I explain it all in the book) AND is a keystone habit, meaning it carries over to other choices and habits.
You’ll also like the Willpower Workout chapter!
Just remember that 5 minutes of moving does a whole lot more than we might suspect. All the best to you in the new year.
Lani
If I could do one thing to help my health, it would be 5 seconds of control in little pieces throughout the day … Its that urge to eat junk which makes me slip and slide as I plug along on my plant based journey. That is what I need and what I wish for!
Pragati – you’re in luck – 5 minute fitness breaks, research shows, restore willpower – and ‘won’t’ power. Honest! I have a whole chapter in the book about it, it’s called Wind Up Your Willpower’. You CAN restore it, train it, make it your friend. I know exactly what you are talking about!
Two words – My Heart!! I am a heart attack survivor! I had a heart attack 10 months ago at the age of 50. Even though I was in ok shape… walking 5 miles a day… I still ended up with a heart attack. I now do everything I possibly can to stay healthy and this book would be wonderful in helping me to get a workout routine!! I still walk and I am doing water jogging but I need to move into the next phase!
Cheryl,
I am happy to hear that you are doing OK. I think that you would get a lot out of this book because it’s more than just an exercise book. The exercises are great but the information on your attitude and what you eat are also so valuable. This is the perfect adjunct to what you are already doing. This is the next phase – you are so right about that.
I need to get more fit….overweight…been trying to lose, nothing is working….
had my annual physical….blood work is ok…just need to get my good cholesterol numbers raised a little…and lose about 50 pounds….I’m tired of feeling tired…I will be 59 this year and have always told my kids that I plan on living til I am 114! I want to make that happen!!!!
Dori,
My top weight was 50 lbs more than it is now so we have a match. 59 in my opinion is a grand time to go for it – success is yours no matter how many times you may have failed in the past or what your age. Honestly, if you sharpen all the tools: the food, the fitness, and the frame of mind – nothing can hold you back.
Almost everything I do is a “project” – get dressed and go on the treadmill, take a 15 min walk, go to Pilates class. Find the video to do a yoga tape. I need things I can do in between everything else – I have reached my weight goal and am eating they way I need to but need to firm up the flab in a few spots!
I need to build muscle to maintain weight and blood sugar, and strengthen my bones. And decrease stress and anxiety! I tend to lose weight with stress, so losing weight has never been an issue for me. I need to maintain a certain weight so I feel good, sometimes it’s a struggle.
I wish that I could give each of you a book. If you don’t win, I highly recommend that you invest in the book to get the quickie workouts that will really work.
I love that you don’t have to commit so long to doing anything. I believe that something is better than nothing.
Don’t consider things a struggle but , perhaps, a challenge. Enjoy every day as much as you can.
Winning Lani’s book would be a lifesaver for me. I feel like my health has been in a downward spiral and I need help to get back on track. My hubby’s job with the military has us traveling and living in lodging or hotels more than we are home. Right now we are in Korea. I would love a book that would provide excerise I could do quickly and wherever I find we are at the moment. I need the tips and help to once again get a grip on taking control of my health. Thank you for the opportunity to learn about this new book!
Thank you all for entering. You know that I consider you all winners because you chose to enter. With that said, only one book was the prize and Michelle was the lucky winner.
Please visit my blog regularly because you never know when I might write something. You can subscribe to my blog by clicking on the orange button to the right of the linked in button above. You will be notified when I write something new.
Keep up all the good work, and aim for a dose of fitness daily.
Roberta,
Fit Quickies are a perfect match. The collection is a focus of over 30 years as a fitness coach – I sifted through my exercise arsenal and some of the top moves for changing the shape and strength of your body – worked with a PT to fine tune and had them all approved by an exercise physiologist. In other words, they’ve been run through the wringer to deliver the cream of the crop to you – and this means you have something targeted and focused for all those hot spots – the muscles most responsible for shaping your body.
Lani
Cindy,
I LOVE that you mentioned stress and anxiety. Stress protection is often overlooked as one of the key values of moving your body – and research tells us that 3 – 5 minutes of it make a huge difference in mental outlook. So much so that I have a whole chapter in the book devoted to it called “Wind up your Willpower” !
Lani
Brandy,
You’ll be pleased to know that I came up with the Fit Quickies concept out of travel needs! True story – which I actually detail in the Fit Quickies book in the section “The Story of Fit Quickies”. I picked through my arsenal of exercises and pulled out my favorite body shapers, and tucked those in during busy global travel. And the way I was able to keep my shape as well as stay in shape – there is a difference – told me I was on to something. You’ll love ‘em!
Lani Muelrath,
I appreciate your sharing the story of your book with everyone. It is a book that I want to take when I travel. I love that it is practical because people often think that if they can’t put in a half hour or more that it’s not worth exercising. So not true, as you prove with your new book.
Thank you again for being here – Lani and everyone else.
